Save the Date: Presidential Inauguration
Oglethorpe University will celebrate the investiture of Kathryn McClymond, the 18th president of the university, with a series of special events September 19-20, 2024. Alumni are invited to participate in these special events.
Remembering Dr. Pattillo
Dr. Manning M. Pattillo, Jr. (H) ’94, the 13th president of Oglethorpe, passed away on June 2 at the age of 104. He served as the university’s president from 1975-1988 and remained an enthusiastic supporter of the university and its students after his retirement.
Welcome Class of 2024
Oglethorpe’s graduating class recently celebrated the traditions of the Carillon Ceremony and Commencement – and had record-breaking participation in the Senior Class Gift campaign. Read more about these special events and welcome OU’s newest alumni!
Make your year-end gift
The university’s fiscal year ends June 30, and there’s still time to make a gift and be counted in our alumni giving rate. We need less than 170 alumni to make a gift in order to reach the participation goal!Gifts of any size, to any area of campus, make an impact.
Upcoming Alumni Events
Volunteer Opportunity: Petrel Post, June 20
Alumni are invited to gather on campus in the TLCC on Thursday, June 20, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. to write letters to incoming students, welcoming them to the Oglethorpe community. Appetizers and drinks will be provided.
Alumni Summer Social, July 17
Join us at Flight Club Social Darts on Wednesday, July 17, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. for an evening filled with friendly games and opportunities to connect with fellow alumni.

Carl David ’70 is the director of the David David Gallery in Palm Beach, Florida, and an avid musician, writer and photographer. He has also recently served on the board of directors for the Federal Enforcement Homeland Security Foundation and is an advisory board member of Impera Intelligence Group, among other community organizations.
Tiffani Hulsey Zernhelt ’02 earned an educational specialist degree from the University of West Georgia in Instructional Technology, Media, and Design.
Leslie Plotkin Bleier ’03 married Leor Bleier on January 15, 2023, in Washington, DC, surrounded by family and friends. Several of Leslie’s Tri-Sigma sisters were in attendance. The couple had a second party in Israel to celebrate with the groom’s family.
Stacey Chavis ’07 received the Millennial Award at the Unsung Heroines Gala from the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Metropolitan Atlanta Chapter. She received this award for her excellence in service to the community.
Elim Oluwole ’19 and Rosa Fowler ’18 recently reconnected at the Georgia Department of Public Health Epidemiology Leadership Development Program at Emory University.
