President McClymond’s inauguration and powerful vision for Oglethorpe
If you missed President McClymond’s inauguration last month, you can watch the complete historic investiture ceremony on our YouTube channel, read the inaugural address on our website, and view photos from the events.

Presidential Tour
This month, President McClymond will begin a tour of cities across the country where she will meet with alumni and share more about her vision for the university. You can participate in a city near you.





Petrels of a feather, flock together
OU alumni turned out for the Day at the Braves on September 29 and the October 5 soccer tailgate. It’s always good to see the Stormy Petrels out and about. Sign up for the next event and reconnect with friends!
Evening of Enchantment and Boar’s Head Concert Celebration
Our annual Evening of Holiday Enchantment invites alumni to come to campus and toast the holiday season. This is a family-friendly event and will include children’s crafts and hot chocolate. Immediately following, join us to celebrate the tradition of Boar’s Head with a festive concert and induction of new members into Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK).

Save the date: OU Giving Day is February 12, 2025
Mark your calendars for the fourth annual OU Giving Day, happening this February 12! Join us as we celebrate Oglethorpe Day and invest in OU by making a gift, rallying your fellow alumni, and spreading the word on social media on OU Giving Day. Whether you contribute, or inspire others to give, your participation will make a lasting impact. Stay tuned for exciting ways to get involved as we come together to support the OU community!

The Student Alumni Association invites you and fellow Oglethorpe alumni, faculty, and staff for a fun game of trivia! Food will be provided. Join us for a fun night of friendly competition.
Virtual Book Club, Thursday, November 7
The Oglethorpe Alumni Virtual Book Club, hosted by Richard Bakare ’03, will meet on Thursday, November 7 at 7 p.m. ET to discuss The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store by James McBride.

Alumni Basketball Tailgate, Friday, January 10
Join fellow alumni for the Alumni Basketball Tailgate! Cheer on the Stormy Petrels as they take on the Centre Colonels. We will host an Alumni VIP section on the Blacktop, under the scoreboard, so you can mingle with friends while watching the game! Food will be provided.

Lauren Howard (Formerly Bundy) ’08 joins Dandelion Energy as Chief Revenue Officer. Lauren also was appointed to the board of the Exceptional Women’s Alliance (EWA).
LaBreshia Taylor ’18, MPH purchased her first home in Philadelphia, PA and began a new role at Drexel University’s Dornsife School of Public Health. Bre is a Project Manager for Community Partnerships to Advance Science for Society (ComPASS), a health equity program funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Bre is also an adjunct instructor in the Public Health Department at Arcadia University.
Shante Ruffin ’19 joins HunterMaclean, a leading business law firm with offices in Savannah and St. Simons Island. She previously served as a summer associate with the firm in the previous year.
Petrel Pair Sharia Rahman ‘20 and Ariana Jimenez ‘20 tied the knot in a religious ceremony on April 20th and a larger ceremony on August 24th. Oglethorpe brought the pair together over 6 years ago.

OUMA Lecture: Changemaker and Inclusive Practices Expert Elizabeth Labbe-Webb
Tuesday, October 28 at 4:00 PM
Gain valuable insights into the work of long time disability rights advocate and activist, theater director, Elizabeth Labbe-Webb. From a self-proclaimed “young troublemaker” studying theatre at Kent State to her present position as Executive Director of Core Dance, Labbe-Webb has continually pushed for inclusion, becoming a leader in the field of disability rights and accessibility.
Feel the Music: Deaf Creatives in OUMA, Through December 1
This fall, OUMA continues to celebrate accessibility, disability pride and wellbeing with a dynamic exhibition of the work of eight artists. All artists are inspired by and utilizing music/vibration/sound in their work, and all are Deaf.
OUMA Exhibition: The Gaze, Through December 1
“The Gaze” exhibit is presented in collaboration with The Ikouii Creative, the exhibit features works from artists living with and without disability and illustrates themes of ableism, advocacy and inclusion.
