Men’s Soccer repeats as SAA champion, heads back to national tournament
The Stormy Petrels scored a late goal in the second overtime Nov. 10 to beat Rhodes and win the Southern Athletic Association for the second consecutive year. They will play in the Division III national tournament beginning Nov. 16.
Presidential Tour
Last month, President McClymond began her tour of cities across the country. Follow along as she meets with alumni and shares more about her vision for the university. You can participate in a city near you.
Nobody helps a Petrel, like a Petrel

Alumni Art Show
The Oglethorpe Museum of Art and Office of Alumni Engagement are pleased to present the Oglethorpe University Alumni Art Exhibition. We are looking to display art from every generation and welcome submissions of designs, illustrations, applied arts, or animations. The exhibition will open in the Philip Weltner Library on March 28 during Alumni Weekend and remain on display until June 29. We will be accepting submissions until December 19, 2024.
MLK Day of Service Returns
Mark your calendars for the MLK Day of Service, which returns to Oglethorpe January 20, 2025, after a brief hiatus. There will a variety of service opportunities including projects on campus!
Giving Tuesday
Mark your calendars for GivingTuesday, the national day of giving to charities, December 3! On GivingTuesday, Oglethorpe is asking all members of our community, from friends of the institution to parents to faculty and staff to alumni, to give back to Oglethorpe. The fund and the amount you give is up to you – participation is what’s most important on GivingTuesday.
Additionally, you can increase your impact by becoming a Social Media Ambassador by visiting the link below. Social Media Ambassadors play a vital role by spreading the word with their networks to help inspire others to join in! Mark your calendar and make a difference this GivingTuesday!

Student Alumni Association Trivia Night, Thursday, November 14
The Student Alumni Association invites you and fellow Oglethorpe alumni, faculty, and staff (including Dr. Pham, Dr. Sharfman, Mr. Ron Burgess, Dr. Lambert, Dr. Terry, Eli Arnold ’06, and more!) for a fun game of trivia! Food will be provided. Join us for a fun night of friendly competition.
Evening of Holiday Enchantment and Boar’s Head Celebration and Concert, Friday, December 6
Our annual Evening of Holiday Enchantment invites alumni to come to campus and toast the holiday season. This is a family-friendly event and will include children’s crafts and hot chocolate. Immediately following, join us to celebrate the tradition of Boar’s Head with a festive concert and induction of new members into Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK).

Alumni Basketball Tailgate, Friday, January 10
Join fellow alumni for the Alumni Basketball Tailgate! Cheer on the Stormy Petrels as they take on the Centre Colonels. We will host an Alumni VIP section on the Blacktop, under the scoreboard, so you can mingle with friends while watching the game! Food will be provided.

Maryam Abolfazli ’01 ran for Democratic nominee for Tennessee U.S. House, District 5.
Ashleigh Cauthen ’13 married John Papageorgiou on September 21, 2024, at Oakland Cemetery. Chris Richardson ’13 officiated the ceremony.
Radford Bunker ’10 (EDP) was promoted to Assistant Public Defender IV for the Rome Judicial Circuit.
Amari Holmes ’19 was promoted in September 2024 to the Marketing Manager position at Colony Square in Midtown Atlanta.
Jibril Stapleton ’19 graduated from Kennesaw State University with a masters in Exercise Science in 2023 and is currently serving as the Men’s assistant Lacrosse coach at Oglethorpe University.

OUMA Collects 2024: Focus on Asia, Through December 1
This fall, the Oglethorpe University Museum of Art (OUMA) turns its focus eastward, showcasing rare pieces from its permanent collection of objects from the Asian continent. From August 23 to December 1, visitors can enjoy a special selection of artworks from Japan, China, India, and South Korea.
Feel the Music: Deaf Creatives in OUMA, Through December 1
This fall, OUMA continues to celebrate accessibility, disability pride and wellbeing with a dynamic exhibition of the work of eight artists. All artists are inspired by and utilizing music/vibration/sound in their work, and all are Deaf.
