Alumni Weekend Registration Opens January 6
We are looking forward to welcoming all alumni back to campus for our annual celebration, Alumni Weekend, taking place March 28-29. Early bird registration opens January 6 and includes a free t-shirt upon registration to any event.
Alumni Art Show
The Oglethorpe Museum of Art and Office of Alumni Engagement are pleased to present the Oglethorpe University Alumni Art Exhibition. We are looking to display art from every generation and welcome submissions of designs, illustrations, applied arts, or animations. The exhibition will open in the Philip Weltner Library on March 28 during Alumni Weekend and remain on display until June 29. We will be accepting submissions until December 19, 2024.
MLK Day of Service Returns
Oglethorpe’s annual MLK Day of Service is back! Join together with Oglethorpe alumni, students, faculty and staff to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by joining participating in a variety of service projects. There will be both on and off campus service opportunities.
Presidential Tour
President McClymond continues her tour of cities across the country. Next up is a visit to Saint Simon’s Island, Georgia! Follow along as she meets with alumni and shares more about her vision for the university. You can participate in a city near you.
OU Giving Day 2025
Join in and support Oglethorpe on OU Giving Day 2025! Mark your calendar for February 12, 2025, and celebrate our fourth annual OU Giving Day! You can play a vital role in making this day a success! Sign up as an OU Giving Day Social Media Ambassador to share your Petrel Pride and help spread the word. Upcoming Alumni Events
Alumni Basketball Tailgate, Friday, January 10
Join fellow alumni for the Alumni Basketball Tailgate! Cheer on the Stormy Petrels as they take on the Centre Colonels. We will host an Alumni VIP section on the Blacktop, under the scoreboard, so you can mingle with friends while watching the game! Food will be provided.

Manuel “Manny” Portillo ’20 has joined HOPE Atlanta’s Young Professionals Board. HOPE Atlanta is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending homelessness and hunger across Atlanta.
Deborah Cardone Chosewood ’87 has been elected as the Strengthening Families Georgia Chair-Elect. In this role, she will shadow the current Leadership Chair for this year and then will assume the Leadership Chair role in 2025.
Nobles Green II ’03 founded Amplify Biovisuals LLC, a biomedical animation and illustration studio in Atlanta. Amplify Biovisuals “turns your insides art” by creating captivating graphics for healthcare advertising and patient education. Additionally, Nobles was elected President of the Association of Medical Illustrators (AMI).
Tom Reilly ’67 attended the dedication of a joint memorial to the American and South Vietnamese soldiers who died in the Vietnam War on November 5th 2024. The memorial stands in Brook Run Park in Dunwoody, Georgia. Veterans from both nations were in attendance.
