Screen on the Green Welcomes Alumni, Families

The Office of Alumni Engagement celebrated summer with a Screen on the Green event, bringing together alumni, faculty, staff, and incoming students from the class of 2027.

Screen on the Green featured an outdoor viewing of Back to the Future on the academic quad. In collaboration with Oglethorpe’s Office of the President and Office of Admission, the Alumni Engagement team organized this event to facilitate and continue to build connections across the Oglethorpe community. “Being a part of the Oglethorpe community is like being a part of a family, so we wanted to celebrate with a big family movie night. It was fun to see the quad scattered with many who share a love for the university,” said Director of Alumni Engagement and Giving Kathryn Henderson ’17.

Interim president Dr. Kathryn McClymond welcomed guests as they lined the quad with lawn chairs and blankets. Attendees enjoyed the movie with popcorn, King of Pops, and other refreshments. For every King of Pops purchase, the university received $2 toward the Oglethorpe annual fund that supports the university’s greatest needs. In preparation for this event, registrants were also given the chance to support Neakyn Boroujerdi ’14 by purchasing custom cheese boxes and boards from her company, CheeseMe.

Alumni events are back in full swing with a new academic year soon to be underway. Attending these events are some of the best ways to reconnect with fellow Petrels and expand your overall network. There are so many exciting things planned!
