Alumni Luncheon with Retired and Current Faculty and Staff, 12:00 – 1:30 p.m.
Join the Alumni Association in the Lupton Auditorium to reconnect with past and present faculty and staff. This is your chance to thank your favorite professor or staff member for their time, commitment, and dedication to Oglethorpe!
Golden Petrel Welcome Happy Hour, 5:30-7:00 p.m.
All Golden Petrels (those who graduated 50 or more years ago) are invited to start off reunion weekend off with drinks and appetizers on campus in the Oglethorpe University Museum of Art. Enjoy an opportunity to view old year books and reminisce with friends.
Alumni Awards and Athletics Hall of Fame Reception and Ceremony, 6:00-8:30 p.m. ($25/person)
Join us in the atrium of the Cousins Center for Science and Innovation to congratulate award winners during a pre-ceremony reception, with drinks and hors d’ouevres. The ceremony begins in Lupton Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. and is followed by a dessert reception. Read about this year’s Alumni Award honorees and the Athletics Hall of Fame inductees.

with Dr. Rhana Gittens Wheeler, Assistant Professor, Communication Studies
In her presentation on her research on the historic Atlanta neighborhood Blandtown, Dr. Gittens Wheeler discusses what it means to make Black placemaking and shared communities a part of a shared American history that inspired moral reckoning. - A Small College, Superlatively Good: Nearly 200 Years of OU History
with Eli Arnold, Library Director
Join University Librarian Eli Arnold ’06 as he offers a lecture from his Introduction to Archival Studies class that traces the history of Oglethorpe from our origins in Milledgeville in 1835 through Downtown Atlanta in the 1870s to our present location since 1915. He’ll hit the high points and talk about how much our university has changed over the years. - Contrapunto Art Exhibit Discussion
with Sophia Sobrino ’25, Curatorial Intern
Oglethorpe University Museum of Art (OUMA) welcomes Contrapunto to round out our year-long series of Hispanic/Latino-focused exhibitions. This Atlanta-based group of six artists was started by Carlos Solis in 2012, with the mission to increase contemporary Latin American artist representation in the Southeast and to support their members with opportunities for education, exhibitions, and residencies. Join us to hear from Sophia Sobrino, Curatorial Intern, and have a chance to meet one of the artists.
Petrels with the President, 11:15 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
President McClymond will share university updates and introduce a panel of alumni who will share their volunteer experiences. Wrap up the morning with a toast to our new president!
QuadFest: Family Picnic, 12:00 – 2:30 p.m. ($15/adult; $10/child)
Petrels of a feather will reconnect on the quad with families and friends for a fun-filled picnic! Stop by for your favorite picnic food as well as lawn games, bounce house, music, and photos with Petey! Lunch will be served until 2:30 p.m.
Golden Petrel Lunch and Induction, 12:30 p.m.
All Golden Petrels are invited to this special luncheon in the Weltner Library honoring the Class of 1974 as they celebrate their 50th class reunion and induction into the Golden Petrel Society.
Oglethorpe University Museum of Art, 12:00 – 5:00 p.m.
The Oglethorpe University Museum of Art (OUMA) welcomes alumni to visit the exhibition Contrapunto: Latin American Artist Collective anytime during Saturday afternoon’s festivities.
Carillon Ceremony, 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.
Facilitated by the Alumni Association, the Carillon Ceremony honors members of reunion classes with an opportunity to enter a secret door in Lupton Hall and climb a narrow, spiral staircase to the top of the bell tower. Alumni sign the historical registry and have their photos taken ringing the carillon bells. No skirts; please wear non-slip, low-heeled shoes.
Baseball Game and Tailgate, 1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Cheer on the Stormy Petrels baseball team as they take on Rhodes College in a double header.
Alumni Basketball Game, Men’s and Women’s, 2:00 p.m.
Join your teammates for some hoops on Pinholster Court! All are welcome to play or cheer on alumni basketball players as they relive their glory days. Locker rooms will be open for showers, and you’ll get your own shower caddy.
19th Annual John P. Salamone ’86 Alumni Soccer Tournament, Men’s & Women’s, 2:00 p.m.
Calling OU soccer players of all ages! It’s time to put on your cleats or cheer on players and visit with friends on the sidelines. Players receive a t-shirt. Locker rooms will be open for showers, and you’ll get your own shower caddy.
Taste of Oglethorpe, 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. ($15/person)
Grab your friends and enjoy a taste of Oglethorpe as you sample food and beverages around the Quad. Along the way you’ll learn about some of the various departments on campus that make the Oglethorpe experience unique. From a Bell Tower Bourbon Smash with the Business School to a McClymond Mojito (non-alcoholic) while viewing students’ academic work at the Academic Showcase, Taste of Oglethorpe has something for everyone. Your final stop will take you to the Quad for the All Alumni Celebration and Stomp the Lawn.
All Alumni Celebration and Stomp the Lawn, 5:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. ($25/person)
Enjoy drinks, dinner, and conversation with all alumni on the Quad to wrap up the weekend. The celebration will kick off with special recognition of class reunions, our Golden Petrels, our newest Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees and our Alumni Award Winners. At 7:00 p.m. we will stomp the lawn with an outdoor party on a dance floor under the lights with a live band! Dinner, dessert, and drinks are included.
Celebrating 10 Years of Memories: Class of 2014 and Friends, 9:30 p.m. – 12:30 a.m. at HobNob in Town Brookhaven ($25/person in advance; $35 at the door)
The Class of 2014, and friends of the class of 2014, are invited to keep the party going and raise a toast in celebration of their 10-year reunion! After Stomp the Lawn, join in at HobNob in Town Brookhaven.
