Dr. Manning Pattillo Memorial

Dr. Manning Pattillo served as university president from 1975 to 1988 and helped raise the university’s profile nationally as well as its academic reputation. Dr. Pattillo passed away June 2, 2024, at the age of 104. He made a lasting mark on higher education and the Atlanta community, and his impact on Oglethorpe University is still being felt today.

His family has requested that in lieu of flowers, gifts be made to Oglethorpe in his memory to ensure his legacy at the university endures.
