Accounting Students Network with Alumni During Annual Mixer

The Oglethorpe Accounting Club recently collaborated with the Office of Career Development to host its Fall 2023 Accounting Mixer. This event was as an opportunity for current students to network with various accounting firms’ representatives, including some of our very own alumni. Students were invited to learn about networking tips, internships, resume writing and more.

Corporations and firms such as Global Payments, KPMG, EY, Koch Industries, and others, brought more than 10 alumni recruiters back to campus.

“There was a great turn out with an impressive group of students,” said accounting graduate Jason Solomon ’01. “My company has hired many Oglethorpe students as interns, but we haven’t been able to do so since the start of the pandemic. It was exciting to see such a high level of preparedness and enthusiasm, especially from some of the youngest scholars as class of 2027.” Solomon is currently a partner at Deloitte in Atlanta.

Each academic year, the Office of Career Development offers several opportunities for alumni to assist current students as they explore areas of interest and develop professional networks. On October 26, career development will host its annual Fall Career and Grad School Fair for students of all majors. Alumni have been asked to encourage their employers to participate in this fair and invest in OU students as they jump-start their future careers or look into continuing their education.
