Board of Trustees Names Dr. Kathryn McClymond Oglethorpe’s 18th President
The Oglethorpe University Board of Trustees voted unanimously during its fall meeting Nov. 9-10 to approve Dr. Kathryn McClymond as the institution’s 18th president, removing “interim” from her title effective immediately.
Brian Davis ’94 shares expertise with current students
Students in Oglethorpe’s MBA program, as well as several student-athletes interested in business careers, had the opportunity to hear from an entrepreneur and corporate leader when alumnus Brian Davis ’94 returned to campus.
Alumna plays pivotal role in archiving Dr. Bob Steen’s collection of Japanese artifacts
Thanks to the efforts of alumna Caitlin Marshall ’21, Steen’s legacy will continue to educate future generations of students who are able to engage with his collection.
Oglethorpe celebrates Philanthropy Week
This week, activities across campus are highlighting the importance of philanthropy and giving back. Students have access to engaging alumni panelists, can take advantage of opportunities to share their thanks, and are learning about philanthropy and volunteerism in a variety of areas thanks to many alumni volunteers supporting events this week. There are numerous ways for alumni to volunteer in the months ahead.

Show your support on GivingTuesday
Calling all Oglethorpe Alumni! GivingTuesday is the largest global day of generosity of the year. On GivingTuesday, November 28, people are encouraged to do good and give back. Petrels are generous to many important causes in their communities, and we hope you’ll include Oglethorpe in your giving plans this GivingTuesday. The amount you give is up to you. Participation is what matters most. To be a part of this movement, mark GivingTuesday on your calendar and help make an impactful change for all members of the OU community!

Chris Raths ’81 recently completed hiking the Appalachian Trail. (View a photo of this milestone on the Class Notes webpage.)
Sharon Moskowitz ’82, art consultant with Explore Brookhaven, recently accepted a proclamation from Brookhaven Mayor, John Ernst, designating October 2023 as Brookhaven Arts and Humanities Month. This proclamation recognizes the City of Brookhaven, Georgia for its rich artistic heritage and specifically encourages greater community participation in taking action to promote the arts and humanities in Brookhaven.
Myers Brown ’93 was recently named executive director of Belmont Mansion on the campus of Belmont University in Nashville, TN. Myers previously served as director of archival collection services and chief historian at the Tennessee State Library and Archives.
Roderick Trujillo ’19 attended Georgia State’s College of Law and graduated with a Juris Doctor in 2022. He is now an Associate Attorney at Greene Legal Group, LLC. He got married in November 2023, and he and his wife are in a punk rock band called Pull No Punches.
