The Oglethorpe Office of Career Development has an opportunity for alumni to share “micro-internships” with students. Micro-internships are short-term, paid, professional assignments, similar to those given to new hires or interns. These projects enable Oglethorpe students to demonstrate skills, explore career paths, and build their networks.

Jude Gelman ’11 began a career with DeKalb County Public Library in March 2023.

Emily Legg Jackson ’15 welcomed a baby girl, Charlotte Martha Jackson, with her husband, Stephen, on April 22, 2023. Mom, dad, and baby Charlotte are all happy and healthy.

Dr. Victoria C. Lloyd ’16 graduated from Louisiana State University with both her doctorate in educational research and leadership (focus on college access via state finance policy) and her second master’s degree in education research measurement and evaluation. Her dissertation can be viewed online.

India Martin ’23 was named the new Marketing and Fan Engagement Coordinator for Athletics at Auburn University at Montgomery.

Upcoming Campus and Community Events

OUMA Community Day | Estampas de la Raza: Contemporary Prints from the Romo Collection, January 13

Oglethorpe University Museum of Art will host a special community day on January 13, from 1-4 p.m., featuring refreshments from local Hispanic/Latino vendors; tours of the latest dynamic print exhibition “Estampas de la Raza: Contemporary Prints from the Romo Collection” (open through January 31) by trained, bilingual student docents; information about Oglethorpe University’s new Intercultural Center; and more.  Learn more >

“Everybody’s Talking About Jamie,” February 17 – March 3

Oglethorpe University and Actor’s Express are teaming up again to co-produce the West End smash hit musical, “Everybody’s Talking About Jamie,” the story of a teenager who must overcome his naysayers to become a fabulous drag queen. Nine Oglethorpe Theatre students have been cast in the production, as well as one alumna and 22 students in the crew. Learn more and get tickets >
